Argentina - 3 weeks - advice needed on itineray

Postby rober » Tue May 04, 2010 1:17 am

hi

Me and my friend are travelling to Argentina in June and wanted to know if this itinerary is feasible

We were planning on

BA - 3 days
Some where in the Pampas
Bariloche
Mendoza
Cordoba
Igazu
Back to BA

We are wondering whether go to Bariloche is worth it at that time of year it we are not planning to ski? Are we still able to do treks/horse riding etc?

Is it hard to get from there to Mendoza during June?

And are we being too ambitious?

Thanks

Nikki

Hi

I am not able to help you with your itinerary but I would like to help with your visit to BA.

There is a restaurant that I can recommend " De Snivel" No.855 Defensa Road in the San Telmo district. It has very good Argentinian food at a reasonable price. The locals only dine around 10pm so don't go too early!

A visit to Recoleta Cemetry is a must. Unlike anything I have seen before. The entrance is free. Buy a map 3 peso and enjoy trying to find Evita's crypt.

BA usually has one rainy day a week so have the rain jacket at the ready.

Enjoy your trip!

I think your itinerary is ok for 3 weeks. Rosario is also worth a visit and is only around 4 hours by bus from Buenos Aires. I'd recommend allowing 2-3 days for Iguacu Falls so you can see it from both the Argentinian and Brazilian sides - both are amazing and offer very different perspectives.

I agree with the previous poster's comment regarding De Snivel restaurant - it's fantastic. We ate there 3 times while we were in BA!

Desnivel amazing. The owner is huge and hes a real character.
There was a group of 10 of us and as my friend sat down and ordered his meal the owner kept placing menus on top of his head.
They ended up being about a foot high and we were rolling around laughing.Poor guy couldnt and dare not move.

Im hoping to go back for 3 weeks sometime later this year or early next year.

Visited in 2006/07 and was only planning a 6 week stay and stayed 3 months.

Enjoy.

BA and Mendoza region both are good and worth the visit, personally I would recommend you to spend at least 4-5 days in BA and two days in Mendoza. Mendoza region is famous for its excellent wineries.
